Nevada state-court injunctions bar Kalshi, Polymarket and Coinbase sports contracts, and the Ninth Circuit has sided with Nevada against Kalshi.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board won state-court orders in Carson City against Polymarket (TRO Jan. 29, 2026), Coinbase (preliminary injunction March 26, 2026) and Kalshi (TRO March 20, 2026, preliminary injunction April 28, 2026), and the Nevada Supreme Court denied Kalshi a stay on July 1, 2026. Kalshi says it now blocks sports markets for Nevada users, but the Board alleges trades after a Aug. 12, 2026 geofencing deadline and is seeking contempt and daily fines. In federal court, the Ninth Circuit on Aug. 28, 2026 upheld the dissolution of Kalshi's injunction against Nevada for sports contracts. Kalshi's rehearing petition is pending, as are Supreme Court petitions from Crypto.com's and Robinhood's exchanges.
