Court order in force

A Michigan state-court injunction bars Kalshi's sports contracts in Michigan, and the state is seeking to hold Kalshi in contempt.

Attorney General Dana Nessel and the Michigan Gaming Control Board sued Kalshi in March 2026; after a federal court sent the case back to Ingham County Circuit Court, Judge Rosemarie Aquilina issued a temporary restraining order on June 29, 2026 and a preliminary injunction on Sept. 1, 2026. The injunction bars Kalshi's sports-wagering activity and marketing in Michigan, requires state-licensed geolocation, and sets $500,000-per-day penalties for geolocation failures. The state moved for civil contempt on Sept. 29, 2026, and a show-cause hearing was reported for Nov. 24, 2026. Federal judges denied injunctions sought by Polymarket, Robinhood and Coinbase; Robinhood and Coinbase agreed to halt sports contracts in Michigan while Sixth Circuit appeals proceed.
