Questions people ask

Is PrizePicks legal?
Team and Culture Picks are event contracts offered by Performance Predictions II, LLC d/b/a PrizePicks Predict, a CFTC-registered FCM and NFA member. Its regulatory page links to Kalshi's exchange documents. Culture Picks (non-sports) are offered everywhere except Arizona, Nevada, New York and Washington. Team Picks (sports) are not offered in a further set of states that PrizePicks names. PrizePicks' two help pages disagree on New Hampshire, Louisiana and New Jersey. By its own list, it offers contracts in 47 of 51 jurisdictions and not in Arizona, Nevada, New York, Washington; sports contracts are unavailable in Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee. Several states argue its sports contracts are illegal gambling, and federal appeals courts have split on whether federal law overrides them.
In which states is PrizePicks not available?
Not offered: Arizona, Nevada, New York, Washington. Sports contracts unavailable: Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee. Source: PrizePicks help centre: Eligibility (last updated 2026-10-19), checked Oct. 22, 2026.
How old do you have to be to use PrizePicks?
PrizePicks requires users to be at least 18, or 19 in Alabama and 19 in Colorado and 21 in Illinois and 21 in Massachusetts and 21 in Virginia.
Does PrizePicks send tax forms?
PrizePicks says it issues Form 1099-B for Team and Culture Picks, reporting all gains or losses from buying and selling event contracts, with no threshold stated. Forms are generally uploaded in February for the prior year, in the app's Tax Information section. Other PrizePicks pick types get a 1099-MISC at $600+ in net winnings. This is what the platform says it reports, not tax advice.

What we couldn't confirm: Whether Polymarket (announced as a partner on 2025-11-11) now supplies any PrizePicks contracts was not confirmed. A Legal Sports Report comparison page says the integration is not yet live, and PrizePicks' own pages name only Kalshi's exchange documents. PrizePicks' help pages disagree on Team Picks in NH, LA and NJ and on the age in IA and LA (see per_state_notes). The where-can-I-play page also gives inconsistent totals (33 vs '34 states + D.C.' for Team Picks; 47 vs 46 + DC for Culture Picks). Nevada and Washington are not listed anywhere on the eligibility page. They are treated as excluded because the where-can-I-play table marks Culture Picks unavailable there. The predict-regulatory page says 18+ for all event contract customers, while the help centre gives state ages of 19+ and 21+. Both are recorded. PrizePicks gives no reason tied to sportsbook or DFS licensing for withholding Team Picks. It says only that local rules limit which games it offers in some states.
