Prediction market law in Virginia

No public action found

Virginia has not acted against prediction markets; a 2026 gaming-commission bill that would have studied them failed.

No Virginia cease-and-desist, state lawsuit, or prediction-market statute was found. HB 271, which would have created a Virginia Gaming Commission and directed it to study prediction markets, failed in the 2026 session. Virginia joined the June 2026 amicus brief supporting Ohio. A private federal suit against Kalshi was filed in the Eastern District of Virginia in 2026.
